Re: o/t Can we have a check in??

Hi Everyone,

I too am still vertical and doing pretty well almost 9 years post ICD. Had my second device fitted in November due to battery depletion, this time a Medtronic . Pleased to see many names that I recall from years ago still doing well. Long may that continue. 👍

Re: Welcome MistahBee (Matthew)

Hi Matthew, welcome to the pleasure dome from a fellow Brit - there are plenty of us here. I too take Bisoprolol & Ramipril so, with the ICD, gives us three things in common. I have been up to Newcastle a couple of times to watch Southampton play the Magpies. Luckily on those ocassions I travelled u...

Re: Roll Call...please check in

Am in my seventh year of my first ICD and have had just one appropriate shock but lots of ATP. I have no doubt that it has saved my life. Had an ablation in June '14 but lots of VT followed in July. A change in meds in July seems to have sorted the VT out - will know for sure during my next interrog...

Re: Mexiletine

The mexiletine didn't work for me - it actually made things much worse. I eventually ended up in hospital as I was getting lots and lots of VT - 380 episodes in two days! I had a change of medicine - now on Disopyramide and haven't had a single VT in two weeks. Just hoping that the side effects of t...

Re: Salty Sea Dog

Sorry to learn of your latest problem Colin, especially coming so soon after your previous episode. I spent 3 days in my local C.C.U. this week after getting lots of VT . A change of medication has helped me at the moment. Hope they can sort something out for you.

Enjoyed your story btw.

Chest Pain / Discomfort

A little over a month ago I had another ablation. According to the EP he burned a largish area. On discharge I had some chest discomfort but time and anti inflammatory meds seemed to deal with that ok. I was prescribed 100 mg Mexiletine twice a day. Unfortunately, despite the ablation and medication...

Re: EP visit - all zero

Giijs - Congratulations on your 'negative' results, long may they continue. Those ablations have certainly given you great results. Is/was your problem totally electrical or have you had other problems - heart attack or stents? I ask as from what I have read it is much more difficult to ablate the v...

Re: Hello, and any chance of some reassurance from long-timers?

Hi Helen, Welcome to the forum for the mechanically enhanced. Unfortunately when they insert the miracle box that is an ICD into your chest, they are unable to adjust your brain accordingly and as you have found out, the worst part of this journey is the accompanying fear and anxiety. You obviously ...

Re: OT - CT Scan on Monday

Chrissy,

I am very sorry to learn of your new problems. Most of us find our ticker problems enough to deal with but you have certainly endured more than your fair share of other health issues. I wish you the very best for your scan on Monday and will certainly be thinking of you. :hugg:
