Re: Our friend Chrissie....

So sorry to hear of this, and my condolences to Lauren and Family. There was a lot of times I just felt like giving up against the heart struggles, until I'd read some of her posts and stories. This woman was one of the most courageous fighters ever. Fought round after round with so many nasty healt...

Re: I finally made the decision

Chrissy, your decision is one I've just begun to wrap my head around. The last year and harsh winter we've had here in Canada seemed to take its toll on me this year harder than ever. I'd leave whatever pacing functions it does alone, but am getting tired of Jesus jolts that leave me a bit worse off...

Re: Gambling with Adrenalin?

Short and sweet.... adrenaline has proven to be my enemy. Waking up from a nightmare invariably leads to a racing heart, increasing anxiety, and congestion in my case.

Re: OT: Today thoughts in the fast lane

I get a couple of points from the post: one, as your condition worsens and you lose the ability (maybe not the desire) to do certain things with people, you start losing a lot of "acquaintances" (because were they really friends to begin with?) Lots of people I thought were friends won't come near m...

Re: New News

I've been really taken aback by this news, and haven't known how to reply. But you've beat the odds and proved them wrong so many times now... let's work up the desire to do it again. Hang in there Chrissy; my thoughts are with you.

Re: Happy New Year Everyone...!!

Wishing everybody a Happy New Year, and I really hope 2019 is a better year for me than 2018. Shocked 3 times over the year, hospitalized 3 time, and finally got my driving privileges back on Dec 28.... after 9 months without a drivers' licence. I think my wife's happier about it than I am. Looking ...

Re: Reaction to being shocked

Just got my driving papers back yesterday after being suspended from my last few shocks; now I have no idea where I want to go, but I'm gonna go somewhere.

Re: CPAP info on NPR

When I was first trying out various CPAP machines and masks combinations, the first machine did indeed report info wirelessly to my sleep specialist (and whoever else, i'm not sure) and she could also change the settings on it wirelessly. Thankfully (in my opinion) that machine didn't work well for ...

Re: CPAP info on NPR

The article says you can get CPAP machines for$400 to $800??? Even with the exchange on the Canadian dollar, we're really being ripped off on them up here. 3 years ago I had to shell out $1800+ for a machine, reimbursed by insurance at 80% coverage. was informed by my "sleep specialist" not long ago...

Re: ICD Shocks while asleep

Of my 6 shocks I have received, at least 4, maybe 5 were while I was asleep. There's usually some weird dream just before they happen, like I'm being chased by something or somebody. In each case, I've had a short run of VT that went right to VF. 3 of them didn't even wake me up.

Re: Hard learned life lessons...

My experience with syncope: went down while in a grocery store check-out line. No warning, no light headedness, just sudden blackness. I'm sure people in the lineup behind me were miffed about having to switch check-outs. 3 hairline fractures of the skull, which luckily enough weren't causing any sw...

Re: Shock # 6

For now at least they increased my amiodarone from 300 mg daily to 400 mg daily. I'm sure they will start touting LVAD to me again when I go for another right side heart cath next Tuesday. My cardiologist is not a fan of LVADs at all, and I don't like the thought of one either. You go that route and...

Shock # 6

Yup, got zapped again at 1 AM on Sept. 27, one week before my 6 month driving suspension would have been complete from the last shock. Again it was in my sleep but certainly woke me up. And for you Robo: At the time I was having a nightmare where several people were chasing me and beating me with go...

Re: amiodadrone

I've been on amiodarone since 2014 when I got my first shocks; 4 years at 200 mg/ day. Early this year i had shocks again, now at 300 mg/day. Tried 400mg a day, but it left me too tired and sucked out to get much done. I'm still walking around on top of the turf, and the only side effect I can repor...
