Re: OT -- Mick Jagger Needs Valve Replacement Surgery

Thanks Wen, then they have been doing the aortic valve for a few years now, so he probably could have got it done in the UK. I know the team that did my mitral valve are doing them. However, they had to practice on pigs before me, so I was the first human they tried it on. But it is still working we...

Re: I finally made the decision

Have had forthright conversations with my Cardiologist and the Technician and they have assured me that my Boston Scientific CRT-D can just have the Shock turned off and all the other stuff still works. I have done more today and feel better today, so am leaving the settings as they are. They did of...

Re: Saved by People and an AED twice now time for my ICD

I go to the doctor on Monday at 1:00 pm to meet and ask questions. The more I read here the more I learn to not then think I will make it to 60. I think that you have misinterpreted this forum completely. We talk about the real life issues of Heart Disease, and although some of us are sicker than o...

Re: I finally made the decision

Thanks Robbo, I have been a little bit shorter of breath today and noticed more head spins. I check with my BP monitor and my pulse is running about 10bpm faster, but no higher. I am running about 100 since the adjustment, prior to that, in the 90's. Unfortunately I think I need to speak to my speci...

Re: I finally made the decision

Gary yes, all the other functions still work as normal EXCEPT the final shock. After my experience with shocks, all appropriate, and the peaceful way to pass I have experienced, I know I have made the right decision. At the moment it is not imminent, it could be months (my doc has set up a 3 month a...

I finally made the decision

I have had my DEFRIBIBULATOR turned off yesterday. I cannot notice any difference. I still have the pacing, the bivent pacing and the protective parts working, just means I do not get the full shock. It is the biggest decision that I have made but I am completely contented with it. I haven't had a r...

Re: OT -- Mick Jagger Needs Valve Replacement Surgery

The article didn't say which valve he is having replaced, but it could be the Mitral Valve and I am one of the reasons he is able to do this. The trial I am on is for the Mitral Valve and I was one of the first in the world to have it done transcatheter. Prior to my procedure it was open heart surge...

Re: Saved by People and an AED twice now time for my ICD

My device will not let me go below 60, it will jump in and bring me back up. I don't know if others are the same but it appears that you were running too low prior to the insertion of your device. It is appalling that you were sent home with not enough information, so I would keep trying your doctor...

Re: One foot in the grave.!!!

Attitude is EVERYTHING isn't it my friend. I love the fact that you mentioned that we will be able to meet later, I hope Mrs ROBBO is prepared to share a few cuddles with me. What a time that will be. As for following in your shoes, it is a priviledge to be able to do it. I of course didn't blindly ...

Re: One foot in the grave.!!!

That is good news Robbo. Actually besides the ATP I have had a few self limiting stuff as well, so who knows. I don't see the Cardiologist until Tues, (it is Friday here) so will get all the info I can from the Tech first then the cardiologist. I prefer the way my tech describes stuff better then th...

Re: Saved by People and an AED twice now time for my ICD

Welcome Dbarrie, you really sound like you belong here and I love the questions you have asked. You have been through a lot of frightening things with your heart, and are now taking the next step, and I honestly believe the safest step, to get your own built in ER. Firstly with your EF, I have had c...

Re: One foot in the grave.!!!

Luckily I don't have to account to anyone for my finances. One advantage of being solo. While I see you are not dead Robbo, I have a couple of questions for you. 1. Did you get the pacing side of your device turned off. I have a Bivent, and am wondering if they can selectively turn of the pacing sid...

Re: One foot in the grave.!!!

I have made the cardiologist appointment for next Tuesday, 2nd April. I see the surgical team tomorrow about pain meds. Will see how the meds work and if I get relief and then have a week to make the decision with regard to the device. I know my cardiologist will have no issues, I just have to be co...
