:congratulations: You are just proof that there is more than just a little hope that we can live with an ICD.

Re: Reading Tea Leaves and other nonsense

Had my device replaced six years ago. The hospital just told me to show up with ID, a credit card and some insurance card. They didn't seem to care if I was mud wrestling beforehand. Is this extra washing a new concept? Are men supposed to shave their chests? Does someone give you the medical scrub...

Re: Reading Tea Leaves and other nonsense

Not a demanding procedure (5% chance of infection though) That is a pretty high infection rate. They seemed to take tons of precautions with this device replacement. The night before my replacement I had to wash my whole upper body for 3-5 minutes with a surgical scrub type soap. I was not allowed ...

Re: First Device Reading

There are many questions you may have. First if all you should request a copy of your download. Then it will give you time to look it over and ask questions on your next visit. I would like to know if there have been any recordings of events, even minor ones. The estimated battery life. What time wi...

Re: Device replacement

Now today I will be setting up my new home monitor that doesn't require a land line! Yea!!!! And once I get it set up I will cancel our home phone service. Been waiting to do that for 4 or 5 years now. My old device lasted 7.5 years. They estimated that with my current settings the new device would...

Re: Arthritis Pain treatment?

Talking about arthritis treatment, I have just had my second cortozone injection in my shoulder. Needless to say, its not worked this time either. joe I got a cortozone shot for my hip. The first one lasted for almost 5 months. They used an echo to place it in the "right" spot. That was after the f...

Re: Medtronic Class I Recall

My DTBA1D1 Viva XT CRT-D is on the list. Time to contact my EP's office for specific advice. UPDATE: I careened around in the Medtronic site and found the letter to the EPs concerning this recall, including the list of affected serial numbers. Mine isn't there. What you are saying is that the list ...

Re: Reading Tea Leaves and other nonsense

So how do they do replacements for someone who is pacemaker dependent? Quickly, I assume. But, what happens in the interim between disconnection and reconnection? Is a perfusion machine required? What if the doc dropped the device onto the floor and someone had to requisition another? They have the...

Re: Medtronic Class I Recall

Please call your EP/Cardiologist. I believe it is for more recent implants, but your doctors will know.

Re: Arthritis Pain treatment?

Sorry you are going through all of that paid and suffering. There seems to always be something out there that makes a "cure" not possible on other medical issues, like arthritis. I pray that they can do something for you.

Topic moved to "in the news".

It appears to be the most recent implants only, but?

Be sure and check your model numbers and if there are any questions CALL YOUR EP.

I had colonoscopy before. They didn’t shut it off. They disabled it with a magnet.
It is how you say it. They just want to make sure you don't have an event (shock) while the procedure is being completed. They have staff there to protect you just in case.
