Re: (Another) Ablation Question

This is one topic there are a million articles online from reputable sources and most are quite positive. Still I wonder if they express such positive outlooks because it is a big money maker for EP labs and is a relatively safe procedure whether successful or not. Regardless, you need to look at th...

Re: ICD- defibrillator and pacemaker

Welcome to the island of misfits, glad you found us. Hopefully we can help you on this journey. So as the Dr said, once your EF hits 30% or below, a defibrillator is called for because the patient is at increased risk of SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest). Few people who experience an SCA survive without i...

Re: VF Experience - Give and Take

yes must be something in the Boy Scout canteens. I was on my first camping trip as an assistant Scout Master. When the Scout Master was stricken with a heart attack. He wound up in the hospital and became the first heart transplantee in Arizona...a very long time ago in a galaxy Virtually anything t...

Re: Lead replacement in teenager

RED FLAG !!! Your current doctor has little experience extracting leads, steer clear. That is not a job for novices, let him get experience elsewhere. Reality is most EP's want to leave the old lead in place unless there is no room for a new one. That is the common method of replacing a non function...

Re: What's up with that?

Seriously, though, why is it moving so slowly? In nearly 2 years, it has barely budged. dead people don't suck up juice... :duh: you can do a search of your local obituary records and see when the deed happened (you were memorialized) and whether a good time was had by all for that matter. There is...

Re: So...

Well I guess in retrospect Al has a valid point/complaint. Still I never considered it from someone else' perspective that I'm a big cry baby, I just looked at it as sharing my journey and the humor I see in even the worst of it. I am astonished that my doctors have been quite clear for some time th...

not sure where my mind went..
anyway, the recall is because the batteries may fail unexpectedly, ie without forewarning or foreplay for that matter. You certainly wouldn't want your vibrator to fail right at the pinnacle of performance. :duh:

Re: So...

so my good friend Mrag (at least he told me he was my good friend, can I trust him?) brought up an interesting question. He was wondering why some people get word they are dying and go quickly thereafter, while others seem to just drag the process on to infinity and beyond like Buzz Lightyear. Well ...

Re: MRI question

rest assured your leads are not titanium. That metal is a particularly poor electrical conductor and in fact is a better insulator. If you had titanium leads, it would take a week for your device to get word from the other end that you needed to be defibrillated and then another week for the electri...

Re: Just Curious

there are risks inherent in every surgical procedure and the more procedures you have the higher your odds something will go wrong, so yeah I would fully expect you may be pushing your luck, however the quality of your medical team can reduce those risks to acceptable levels. It boils down to Risk V...

Re: So...

I also have a date organized with my Lauren, her new car has a roof opening thingy, and we are doing the Great Ocean Road in it, with the window open, and I at one stage will do the Titanic windswept pose from out of the roof. (We will probably be parked, but you can guarantee there will be the oce...

Re: MRI question

That's great news Chrissy. Hopefully they'll have some more positive news for Lauren soon. Titanium, which by the way your ICD or CRT housing is made of, is only weakly ferro magnetic. In English, it's not really affected by magnetic fields and doesn't create an eddy current when a magnet passes ove...

Re: What's up with that?

you never heard, sex will recharge your batteries? Battery life is an estimate based on a snap shot in time and factors in such details as settings and useage at the time. If any of those factors change the time will change as well. SO for example if you die and the device is shut off battery life w...
