Re: OT: drug pricing alert

In case anyone is wondering about my moderation of this topic: 1) This topic is properly labeled Off Topic (OT). 2) The discussion is well-reasoned, without anyone tossing insults at those who disagree with them. 3) The topic is also germane to our mutual health concerns. Keep it up guys and gals! ...

Re: Ischemic Cardiomyopathy and CRT-D

I've had so many heart attacks we don't keep score anymore. Had quad bypass and a shiny new porcine valve installed back in 07 (2007 for the challenged). EF fluttering around 15. The delay in my QRS is about a week (LBBB) and I've had a CRT-D for 2 years...I still look like crap according to all who...

Re: OT - Farewell Tour...

She loves it already, but one week and I'm already pushing her to use all that education and start a new career like maybe Walmart Greeter... hey I figure they would take anyone and she has so much experience dealing with crazed parents and children, perfect fit. So far she's made me help clean the ...

Re: Hard learned life lessons...

@#$ $@&^ $%&@*&÷$# the lights went totally out again and I did a swan dive this time landing on the corner of a concrete slab and doing significant damage to my chest. In fact I broke 2 ribs. Now when I breathe, the pain sends me screaming, my eyes water like a fountain, and my eyes roll back into m...

Re: Pre existing conditions and insurance

one of the toughest decisions I had to make every year was healthcare coverage. I cannot tell you how many sleepless nights I agonized over this decision. What company to go with, what was the best coverage possible, what were hidden costs, how reliable was the insurer and so on. Not for me, for all...

Re: Good Article

I think the scientists and physicians who develop lifesaving/prolonging devices and medication are probably invested solely for the sake of preserving life. I think you have to have that mindset and love of science/biology to have the curiosity to do this job. Corporation management is more likely ...

OT - Farewell Tour...

Well my friends, and Mrag, this is my final farewell tour. Nah, no such luck, I'm not giving up my legendary golf club collection just yet. This is my lovely bride's last week before she hangs up her paddle, says good bye to the kiddies, and walks away from a 25 year career in elementary education. ...

Re: Hard learned life lessons...

In fact when your heart stops (Flat line or asystole) your pacemaker will recognize it as missed beats and pace you. You only receive a Jesus Jolt (high voltage shock therapy) when there is an erratic heart beat such as V-Tach or V-Fib. So if your heart stops and the device recognizes that and trie...

Re: Hard learned life lessons...

ROBO Pop: So if I understand, your heart rate was probably ok, but you weren't getting enough oxygen to your brain due to the low ef/low B.P. and that's what caused the syncope? In fact you may not realize that our devices do not detect a heart attack because it's not an electrical issue. Good. Yes...

Re: Hard learned life lessons...

Excuse my ignorance but I'm new to all this. Why didn't the device pace your heart so that you didn't experience syncope? Great question, wish more people would ask questions when they don't understand. My friend Colin did a great job describing one instance of dropping like a rock but in this case...

Re: Welcome Sumlady (Anne & Don)

relax, cruise ships have bathrooms. Nothing to worry about. In fact you should worry more about traveling by car, ie will there be rest stops with bathrooms spaced strategically 20 minutes apart on the route.

Re: o/t fluffy cats......

Sorry Colin, my wife, cats, dogs, and tortoises are plotting my overthrow. My wife organized it, the cats are planning it, and the dogs are the henchmen. The turtles are impartial observers. So just how is it you think dogs are man's best friends?

Hope the table and chair are OK.
Thankfully yeah they withstood the attack. The set belonged to my wife's late parents so you can well imagine had there been damage this episode would have been fatal for me.
