Re: Entresto

I, too, have just gone on Entresto. Started out slowly and am now taking one 49/51 MG tablet twice a day in part because my EF has dipped again and is now down to 30%. My PC physician was primarily responsible for the shift away from Lisinopril but the recommendation was seconded by my cardiologist....

Re: Happy Birthday HenryT

Thanks for the note...as this was B-Day number 70 there has been quite a bit of celebrating going on :balloons: I don't post very often; though I am a daily lurker to this site. All is well. EF continues to be around 35, chronic A-Fib, frequent episodes of V-Tach but no shocks, all the usual meds. I...

Re: RUNNING AND CYCLING

Davis,

I have found this site to have useful info on ICDs and exercise. Go down the topics listed on the left side of the page and click on sports and exercise: http://www.pacemakerclub.com/public/jpa ... content.do

Hope this helps,

New Med from Novartis

Anyone have any experience with Entresto? Entresto is a first in class medicine (an ARNI, Angiotensin Receptor Neprilysin Inhibitor) that reduces the strain on the failing heart. A twice-a-day tablet, it acts to enhance the protective neurohormonal systems of the heart (NP system) while simultaneous...

Re: An Interesting Statistic

So I'm on my third ICD. I was shocked once each by my previous devices. In 2009 I had an AV node ablation and have been shock free since then. While I continue to have runs of non-sustained VT nothing high enough or long enough to warrant "therapy".

Cheers,
Henry

Anniversaries are important

So, May is an important month for me. 31 years of sobriety and 16 years of living with cardiomyopathy and ICDs. Can't complain about much. If you're bored look up telomeres. Interesting stuff relating to aging and cancer and overall wellness. Off to drown my sorrows in a pint of..........gelato :D H...

Re: VT episodes

It's good to hear of others experiences. Since last summer each of my 3 month interrogations has shown over 100 "events"--mostly non-sustained VT, although a few have been up to a couple of minutes but none high enough to set of my device. This is a significant increase for me. After much discussion...

ICDs and exercise

At age 68 I am still a regular exerciser (90 to 120 minutes/ 6 days a week of walking/jogging and/or resistance training) despite an EF of 35 and over 15 years of life with a CRT-D. I was encouraged to keep on keeping on by the following two articles. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/842130 http:...

Re: A few questions

My wife and I are regular day hikers mainly in the Shenandoah National Park and I always carry a day pack. No difficulties over the past 15 years. Personally, I think the benefits of being out in nature outweigh most other concerns. One of my two shocks occurred on a hike with three friends. After c...

Re: Happy Birthday HenryT (Henry)

Thanks for the note! I'm in my 15th year of dealing with ICDson number three) and a long ago diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy. Last week's bi-vent interrogation indicated a fairly sudden spike in non sustained V Tach: 1 episode in March, 63 in June and 94 in September so I'm off to have a MUGA sc...

Re: Memories

We had just completed a long uphill walk on the Appalachian Trail. The sun was warm and the breeze soft. Putting out our picnic lunch in a dappled glade we had just started in on a little gourmet trail mix and Virginia's finest bottled water when all of a sudden sparks flew and I knew at once that I...

Re: It's Roll Call time! Please check in :)

Just had my 3 month CRT-D check up and seem to be fit as a fiddle. Had 4 brief VT episodes that were resolved with ATP. Looking forward to some warmer days but the snowdrops are out so I bet spring will be here...when it gets here.

Cheers,
Henry

Re: Where have all the flowers gone...

I, too, am mostly a loyal lurker...But here's an issue that has been on my mind. When should one consider leaving a medical practice? I have had each of my devices implanted by the same EP group and I have great trust in their care. Being a lazy soul and thinking I could save gas/time about 3 years ...

There's something very scaring about this list....my daughter is also in a relationship with a person she now describe's as "Mr. Right". Maybe our devices will all beep in time to wedding bells lmao4dx
