Re: Check In...!!!

Update on my CGM system: My Hb A1C came in at 5.9 on Tuesday. Considering how bad it was 18 months ago, that's thrilling... except for a moment I thought the nurse was going to grab my hands to have me join her in a happy dance!

Re: Drs. recommending Biventricular ICD ????

I was diagnosed with LBBB about 10 years before my heart ballooned and I had my SCA. Fortunately I was saved by bystanders with CPR who also had the EMTs there withing a couple of minutes with the AED. All that being said, my CRT-D has immensely improved my health by eliminating the asynchronous beh...

Re: am I dead yet? ...

Here's something to think about as we each approach the end of life, be it days or years away: “Son,'he said,' ye cannot in your present state understand eternity...That is what mortals misunderstand. They say of some temporal suffering, "No future bliss can make up for it," not knowing that Heaven,...

Re: Welcome LukeG

I'm one of those who likely would have died by now without an ICD supervising my heart. It's actually a CRT-D, which is the shorthand version of "Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy - Defibrillator." As the name implies it makes my ventricles beat at the same time... think of what would happen if the ...

Re: Drug Price Check

Presidents and prime ministers are limited on what they can accomplish on their own. Those pesky legislators have to cooperate! That's not just a problem in the US; Finland's health system isn't reforming as their leaders wanted it to: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-08/finnish-gover...

...I'm now on a reduced dose and the arrythmias are breaking through the chemically induced protection shield. Gauntlets and shields. I might take up jousting and join my local jousting club. Every English town has one and it is still a very popular sport over here. If you do, please have someone v...

Re: Check In...!!!

I've recently been granted a Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM) system by my insurance company. It took several months and the help of my insurance agent to get around the major kink: It was supposed to be ordered from a local, approved by the insurer, medical supply provider, not the mail order pharmac...

Re: Anxiety Attacks

Hello, John. I was already seeing a counselor as part of my chaplaincy training (Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?) when I had my SCA and discovered my heart wasn't healthy. Along the way I learned that our minds, like our bodies, are more complex than we realize. And it's possible to train our unconsc...

Re: o/t embarrassing.....

Embarrassing is being near death and the only one keeping this place alive :duh: look alive people, tourists are coming by and seeing Tombstone. They don't even stop by the gift shop because a guy in a black cloak with bony hands and sunken cheeks is manning the store. Geez awww so sorry angel for ...

It seems like everyone who got a changeout was getting infected for a while.
Is it that common to get an infection when you get a battery/device changeout?
Those who get infections do tend to write about it... I haven't had an infection, so, I never wrote about having one. Think about it!

Re: am I dead yet? ...

The jolt itself doesn't really hurt but what it signifies and leads onto does. I'd take a kick in the plums any day over the long term collateral damage a relatively painless jolt provides. What do you mean by long term collateral damage? Here's a 5 year-old study: https://www.escardio.org/Journals...

but you immediately become a soprano in the church choir I'm convinced, and my Cardiologist who also has heart disease agrees, that the more damaged your heart the less a Jesus Jolt impacts you.
