Echo with or without contrast

I am curious about getting an Echo "with contrast" that supposedly improves the image of the heart. This has been recommended to me before because I am a "difficult technical study." I've declined because I thought "difficult" simply meant I was a pain in the ass. Now I am learning it may mean I am ...

Re: CRT, pacing and PVCs

Just asking, but it seems Dick is reporting numbers on say page 19 and 20. LV Pacing % on page 19 and Total PVCs on page 20. It is all the same report at the same time, but still a good question.

Interesting NYT articles (heart failure, med costs)

Found these recently, thought they might stimulate some interesting board discussions The first, cholesterol article, seems mainly about cost of drugs. Interesting that the people referenced are from states most opposed to policies that would start to address the issues. Sort of like the farmers bit...

Re: So who is ordering the Apple Watch?

I have about 6 plain old watches sitting in a drawer. Can't remember the last time I actually wore one. But I am getting tempted with this new watch to part with $4-500 after reading Downeastter's summary of uses and just seeing a car commercial where some dude starts his car by touching his wrist. ...

Re: Another Shock

You handled the shock well. When I've had a shock it always rattled me and only got better after a Xanax or two. I have read of others on here who have been shocked while driving and just continued on their way. The ICD is there to shock so what's the great surprise when the $30,000 device suddenly ...

Re: OT? Whew...

My wired Latitude is almost buried under my work desk downstairs. My doctor apparently has been getting reports so the setup must work. Years ago I had it jammed under the bed completely out of sight. That worked too. Having the device "saves" me two trips a year to the EPs office for interrogations...

Re: Test Anxiety

Assuming you feel pretty much the same as the last time you had an echo, I wouldn't worry about it. My experience is echos are very broad brush and depending upon who is reading, my EF is somewhere between 25 to 40 percent and my valves are seemingly normal but not clearly seen. Echos are not exactl...

Re: Heat Rash or Shingles

On the bright side if you did get shingles and skipped the vaccination, figure you saved over $300. Smart move as really not that many get shingles.

Re: interaction with life alert device

Medtronic is likely trying to protect their butt. I'm not an engineer or developer on this, but you can opportunities them. (GOD DAMN SPELK CHECK SHIT( That said and not knowing more, might you be over reacting with life alert? (If wife 89 and frail, probably good idea). Does she wear a bracelet or ...

Re: Pre existing conditions and insurance

It would appear the preferred course of action here is to sit back and wait to see what happens as opposed to trying to influence or participate in any course of corrective action? The individual mandate has been dropped and as Robo noted typically younger, healthier people will choose to forego med...

Re: I'm tired...anybody got any ideas?

Let's not talk about catheters. I like kinky as much as the next person, but that is one that can cause a cringe. Love Margaret's explanation on Lasix. I thought it was only me. Unless I am suffering some real SOB, I never take Lasix after 4 PM. One time I mistakenly took Lasix instead of my cholest...

Re: Speculation on future

I wasn't smart enough to do it and get rich!
Me neither.

I hear all these futuristic ideas and think they sound pretty obvious. Then I wonder why I never thought of one. Whoever is doing the thinking is far ahead of me.
