OT Something Ironical about CPR

What caused me the most pain and inconvenience when I had my SCAs was the after effects of the CPR performed on me by my wife (who had many reasons to beat on me) and the EMS first responders (firemen). Supposedly they didn't break any ribs, but I sure was sore. It took a few weeks for the pain to c...

Re: Why Reduced Activity on Forum

Facebook has certainly had an impact on the activity, but I find Facebook groups very cold and anonymous. I haven't gotten to know anybody on there very well. This site has a much better opportunity to get to know people better and can be more helpful to members. Sometimes though I think we need to ...

Re: Returning to work after ICD implantation

Hey John, First thing I’d say is that everybody’s situation is different. For me the actual implantation of the device was almost the least of my worries. It took a few days for the ICD incision to get better. There is also a few weeks where they tell you to be careful about raising your arm near th...

Re: Our friend Chrissie....

I'll always remember Chrissie as being the kind of person who was a friend to everyone she knew. Her wisdom and courage were an inspiration to me and she was a gentle voice for calm at a time when I was very frightened. I'm a better person for having had the pleasure to know her.

Re: BP Monitor recommendation

I had an Omron for many years and replaced it about a year ago with a cheapo Walgreens monitor. The new one sounds like your WalMart edition, it works very well and quickly. I couldn't be happier with the change. No need to spend a bunch of money. Actually my old one used to give consistently high r...

Re: Lost my virginity to an ATP experience

Good to know you found your glass slippers before the midnight bell rang. Lets hope the loss of virginity doesn't lead to a sort of quasi cardiac nymphomania.
Good to hear from you and would like to hear more.

OT: Absolute obliteration of my deductible

Here’s some fun. I was working on my tax return the other day and noticed that my wife had kept all of the EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) from the insurance company last year. They show the charges and payments made by the insurance company. Included were the (now) mundane quarterly charges from my ...

Re: OT: Today thoughts in the fast lane

Nice words! I can relate!
Reminds me of a quote I ran across that I saved,

Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body,
But rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting
“Holy S*#t....What a ride”!

Re: OT-TEST DILEMMA

Tough question but I think I agree with Helen. A decision like that may actually be in my future. It may be 1-2 years from now or it may be 10 years from now for me. My cancer will eventually metastasize somewhere in my body, just not sure how soon or where. The likely areas are bone and lymphatic s...

Re: So....lets do this for the Newbys!!!

Great Idea, I was not in very good condition for about a month in 2011. I had a MI (with a new stent) and about 2 weeks later I had 2 SCAs about 24 hours apart. Sparky came to be a part of my life after that, now 8 years ago. Since then almost nothing has happened. I have slowly gotten better and be...

Chrissy, Been away for a bit and saw this and really didn’t know how to respond. Just know I have the utmost admiration for your courage and ability to keep going with a positive outlook in spite of some of the issues you have been through. Not sure what else to say other than you have all my suppor...
