Re: Feel like ICD digging into shoulder

It should get better. A pocket is made for the ICD to rest in and it can take some time for the device to settle in. One day, it won't be your first thought on waking and your last thought before sleep.
Best Wishes to you.

Re: Question

Did your device nurse tell you the percent you are brady paced? My left vent is paced near 100% by my CRT, but I don't feel it except sometimes for ATP. But I can feel the brady pacing and I don't like it. I was brady pacing over 25% with my threshold set at 60. My doc decreased the threshold to 50 ...

Re: Ischemic Cardiomyopathy and CRT-D

The helmeted one is wise indeed. My doc told me that about 30% will improve, 30% will see no benefit, and about 30% will decline and that there are no predictors. My heart was damaged by a virus that caused a nasty lung infection that spread to my heart. Initially, I saw an improvement. I felt bette...

Re: Health insurance Disability

The marketplace will contact you if your Medicaid coverage ends. It's an automatic process. When you qualified for Medicaid, were you receiving social security benefits for yourself or has that started since you qualified? Sometimes, people qualify after getting the disability determination, but as ...

Re: Health insurance Disability

A little more information would be helpful.
Were you receiving disability payments from someone?
Has Social Security Administration of a state agency already given you a determination of disability?
Is your husband getting SS disability, too? Or is his retirement?
Do you have dependent children?

Re: Good Article

I think the scientists and physicians who develop lifesaving/prolonging devices and medication are probably invested solely for the sake of preserving life. I think you have to have that mindset and love of science/biology to have the curiosity to do this job. Corporation management is more likely d...

Re: Pre existing conditions and insurance

Did states really do a huge disservice to refuse Medicaid expansion? Can we protect the vulnerable, preexisting conditions, etc. while also protecting everyone else? Government, not one party or another, has a long habit and history of starting programs that are poorly conceived and poorly executed....

Re: o/t Beam me up scotty.....!!!

I don't think we necessarily have to apply the standard of any former moderator, but I agree that this one has gone off the rail. I'm a news junkie, too. I have very strong opinions, politically and otherwise. I've also learned a lot from the perspectives and experiences of others, so I welcome them...

Re: o/t Beam me up scotty.....!!!

Those of us with pre existing illnesses could easily have been protected with change to HIPAA to restrict the use of protected health information. The power of our healthcare $ didn't have to be placed in the hands of insurance companies and hospital corporations to accomplish that. What we should b...

Re: multiple shocks

Welcome Jennifer! You're in the right place. I'm glad you found us. There is a lot of experience here and lots of folks who are happy to offer you information and support. I've had 3 shocks in about 20 minutes and it was definitely an unsettling experience. Since you were hospitalized and your doc i...

Re: Echo with or without contrast

I've never heard of an echo with contrast and I've never had any kind of injection or IV infusion for an echo. I've had TEEs and always sedated for them. I have had the radioactive imaging that I was told was a chemical stress test. I walked on the treadmill, had an infusion of some kind of radioact...

Re: CRT, pacing and PVCs

I had something similar on a report a couple of interrogations ago. My doc and I talked about the # of ATP increasing over previous interrogation and what that could mean, then doc left. I asked tech for a copy of the report and when he printed it, there was 0 ATP events on it. While I was talking t...

Re: OT-LOWER BACK PAIN

All through 2017 I had horrific back pain. I also had sciatic pain. I tried everything from needling (which was amazing), yoga, physical therapy, chiropractor (though I think they might be quacks), I even tried a few weeks of pain meds. It got to the point that I began to consider that death could b...
