Re: o/t Can we have a check in??

I still log in every couple of weeks. Don't really have a lot to say. Got zapped cycling home from work a couple of weeks ago which I don't think was really warranted. So the driving ban got renewed not long after it had finally expired. It could have been fairly dangerous given that I was on a fair...

Re: More stupid ablations

I'm fairly sure of the diagnosis. It affects much of my family. Interesting that the link you provide suggests that ablations are a treatment option when "medications are not effective" because in my case, medication has never even been tried. My pulse was deemed too slow already. As it is, my norma...

More stupid ablations

Went for my regular checkup today and they weren't happy. Apparently my ICD is needing to do a lot more pacing work than is ideal. This may be partly because I've had a lot of work and stress with house renovations over the last two months but this is now coming to an end. The cardiologist seems kee...

Re: Link: pacemaker security

I still maintain the question on "why would someone want to hack my ICD?". Also they would need to be within a reasonable distance of me and learn the code for MY unit. Security issues in software are often also ordinary bugs and the apparent lack of reaction from the company in this case is rather...

Link: pacemaker security

This is just a link on the subject of pacemaker security. I know there's been previous stuff on problems with defibrillators and St. Jude products in particular.

Re: Can everyone with an icd expect to get a shock at some time

I have not had a shock and don't want one, but is there anyone out there who can boast on never having been shocked ? I think it is worth mentioning that while a shock is not exactly fun, it isn't worth getting anxious about it. It is over very fast and makes me feel a lot better instantly so I qui...

Really? Never even occurred to me to consider getting a magnet. Do many of you bother to do so? I'm not really sure how wise it'd even be to use one.

Any criminals here?

Seems incriminating evidence could be extracted from our ICD. Might need a bit of extra planning for your next heist. Devilflame

Re: Inappropriate shocks - Survey

The first shock I got was a week or so after implantation and I consider it inappropriate but it was more down to the calibration of the device than any fault. I'm sort of glad that I got to experience it so I know what it feels like and have an idea of when I need to slow down with any exercise. I'...

Re: Welcome Poppy

Welcome to the board. If you've been told you can't drive it would be risky to drive regardless because it might affect your insurance if you have an accident. I was able to get a letter from the doctor stating that I was safe to drive but in my case I hadn't had a heart attack as such. You could al...

Re: Apple Watch - Anybody here using one?

I don't know about the Apple watch - way beyond my budget - but watches with heart rate monitors tend to be focussed on people doing sports. So they can only tell you your basic heart rate and not things like abnormal beats. The better ones tend to rely on some sort of belt to pick up your pulse rat...
