My dad sang a shortened (thank heaven!) version of that one to me each morning to get me up. It's not my favorite!

How do you welcome a Sgt. @ Arms? A salute? Bow? Curtsy?
I'm glad to get the news and glad you'll be carrying on.
Bob was very concerned about the site. I know he would be happy.

I don't know about my Northern friends, but the "Sergeant at Arms" down under, is the enforcer in the Motor Cycle gangs. So when I hear "Sergeant at Arms" I see a big tuff bikie, with leathers and a lot of tattoo's. With them it is "Yes Sir, no Sir, what ever you say Sir. lmao4dx Not really the image of our gorgeous softy Ron. dancee dancee

However you spell it, the sergeant-at-arms is responsible for keeping order in a legislative body. The folks here might not be passing laws, but we do talk and quibble about as much as any group of politicians. Unfortunately I won't be carrying one of these:

That's a ceremonial mace as carried by the Queen's sergeants-at-arms on state occasions. Imagine being hit on the side of your head with that for misbehaving!
