old device new story

Post by Hook » August 5th, 2017, 4:07 pm

I've had my St Jude ICD about 7 years, not so much as a pacing assist. I've always had random PVCs and some minor vtac runs, but all below theropy threshold.

I entered a heart failure clinical trial, and 8 days into taking the drug I get wacked. The worst part is I was on a business trip having dinner with a client. He had to drive me to the ER. The even worse part is I had to go to Jethro Memorial, where the only cardiologist was this little jerk from Venezuela. This hospital had none of my six heart med, and claimed to have no way to fetch them.

Either way, I held the trial drug and they started me on amioderone.

Anyone else had experience with a new drug in this way. Who knows, it may have just been my time.

I am sorry you went through this issue. Unfortunately that is one of the issues of getting into a clinical trial. I am not opposed to clinical trials but we never know what to expect. I hope all will be back to your normal soon.
