FROM FB
The Bionic Bride
Ally had an active day today. Her last chest tube was removed, dailysis is now only 4 hours a day, all leg caths were removed, & she had a swallow test to check her swallowing. She did well on the swallow test, but can only eat soft foods until her voice comes back- she whispers now. She ate a small amount of mash potatos & strawberry yogurt & sat in a chair for a short time. She was alert a lot more today.

The Bionic Bride
Ally is doing much better both mentally & physically. She has been walking with the aide of a walker for about 50 feet before she has to sit in the wheelchair. Her voice is coming back & tomorrow will do a swallow test to see if she can start drinking liquids & eating regular foods. Mike came in for the weekend - the best medicine around. She may possibly get out of ICU this week. Continue with the prayers.

FROM 1:30pm today
Ally had surgery yesterday. She haad begun to have trouble breathing, so an echo and ct scan were done. Drs had to remove 500 ccs of fluid from around her heart. She now has 2 chest tubes to drain the fluid. She has some fluid in her lungs so they may have to drain that today or tomorrow. She is currently sitting up in bed eating ice chips. She has certainly been a trooper.

She had the biggest smile while drinking. Today is the 1st day she has wanted the tv on & is currently watching tv. It has been a month since she has been able to or wanted to watch tv.about an hour ago

Great to see her progressing. Thanks for the updates. I remember perking up when I first heard about the Bionic Bride because I have the Bionic Woman (70's version not the newer 90's one) plastered all over my office.

I hope to begin running again in the spring. Due to injuries and a fungal lung infection, I've struggled to keep exercising, but can now do elliptical and weight training again. Seeing someone come back from her situation keeps me pushing forward.

Wishing everyone well!
Rachel
St. Jude ICD since 10/09/2009
Long QT w/documented 12 sec V tach episode that self-resolved.
Dual option ICD paces me if I go below 50 and doesn't shock until 200 (cause I exercise).
Shocked 4 times inappropriately due to exercise after setting inadvertently lowered to 160.

The Bionic Bride
Ally continues to improve. She is down to taking 14 meds instead of the orginial 21. She will begin Cardic Rehab in May & is well enough to travel from her
parents house to her home where she will stay for a couple of weeks. Next big event will be check ups the 2nd week of May.

Sorry to hear that the last one had to be replaced.
I do pray things will work for her this time.

I'm not on Facebook so could not read the postings.

Prayers for Ally and her family and the medical team.
With Respect,
David

11 Sept 2012 / Idiopathic Ventricular Fibrillation
At about 2AM I started storming at home, and in the ambulance, and in the ER.
Sometimes I restated and sometimes I had to be defibrillated.
A number of times I went into arrest and stopped breathing.
External defibrillation count exceeded 18 and at some point the team induced a coma.
24 hours later I was revived and have never had another event.
13 Sept 2012 / Medtronic ICD was implanted.
My diagnosis is still idiopathic.
