Bad EKG today and now stress test

Post by dadmanbob » December 14th, 2012, 6:04 pm

I went to my DR today and they did my normal 6 month EKG. The lady did it three times and said well this one is the best one. The nurse took my BP and it was 180/92. When the DR came in he said how do you feel. I told him I have good and bad days some days I just do not feel like doing anything. He told me that my EKG did not look correct and did not look like the last one.

So he now has me taking my HYDRALAZINE 50MG 4 timea a day he wants me to take one before I go to bed. Also I am now scheduled for a nuclear stress test next Friday. He said he is concerned that my other blood vessel that was 40% blocked back in March 2011 may be causing me problems.

What a !!!! Christmas gift :freez:

Sorry you are having those issues. My nurse also has a problem with getting a clean EKG the first time. Some of the patches don't hold very well.

With you blood pressure and the results of the EKG I am sure the stress test is best. They don't hurt and really do show most of what is going on. I went through all of that last year at this time.
Best to get things fixed now than wait until it can't be done.

Yes Bob I know they are not bad test. I have had two already since March of 2011 and have failed both times. When I say failed I mean that once I am on the treadmill and all wired up they have to stop it about 1 minute after I start.
What ever they inject in when I am on the treadmill just makes me very weak fast, yes I know it is better to fix it fast.

Thanks

I just lay there for my nuclear stress test. They do not even show me a treadmill-perhaps they know better. Why do they even try a treadmill? With a lot of heart meds, even if you could 'walk' 120 minutes you'd never be able to get your heart rate up.

I sympathize. I was feeling bummed that I needed a new $1000 crown for a tooth I can't even see. You beat me. Good luck on your test.

Bob I hope all goes well for you this Friday. So sorry you are having these problems, but if there is an issue, it sounds like they are on top of it and will fix it before it becomes more serious which is a good thing indeed:)

Just wanted to up date everyone. My stress test was delayed because my insurance was late to OK it. I go in tomorrow morning at 7am to have it done. They called me yesterday to change my location to the hospital so if they find out something wrong they can fix it then since I will be in the hospital.
I will update everyone how it goes when I can. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas

Holly Crap this stress test was a big pain. They said since I have the ICD there would be no treadmill and instead they used medicine to make the heart rate go up.
It made me feel so bad that they had to lay me down in the bed. I could hardly breath and felt ready to pass out. They wanted me to move my legs back and forth at the beginning and I did for little while and they told me to keep moving and I did not even realize I had stopped.
I do not know any results yet but man was this one a real new experience. I hope I do not need any more stress test.

Maybe the idea is to see if you live through the test, you passed :-) Be glad it is over and that you have a few months before the next one. And regardless, it still should be much better for you than running on a treadmill.

Well some good news for me. My stress test came back clean they said no more problems except for the 20% dead heart that was on my original test back in april 2011 when they found 100% blockage. The DR told me that my heart may hurt if I get up above 90bpm cause of the dead part.
But any way there was no other problems detected so I guess I am good for awhile.

Glad your test came back o.k. I have had the chemical stess test a couple of times and find it scary as I feel like I am being pulled through the floor. About 30% of my heart is dead, I am in permanent afib and totally ablated so am 100% paced in the Ventricles. I have pushed hard and this last year my PM would not increase my heart rate on exertion. Never had any chest pain or "hurting" My experience is that you will just be tired and this fatigue will naturslly force you to rest as needed. Of course every case is different but that's how it works for me.
