Update from Helen (Mykidsmom)

Post by Ozchrissy » December 31st, 2014, 2:04 am

I just got this update from Helen

"Triple bypass required urg lol 90% blockage in 4 places at top of heart dr said hes stunned im still here trying for surgery tomorrow meanwhile not allowed up to pee"

Had a good chat and she seems in good spirits, although of course worried about her upcoming procedure. She won't be sure what is happening until tomorrow.

Also she said she had forgotten her password for here, and can't get in. That is why she is not coming in here at the moment.

It is good to hear an update, thanks Chrissy.

She still sounds as mad as a box of frogs, which is brilliant. It is good things have been caught now but I'm wondering how they were left to get that bad. I thought us ICD'ers with our frequent checkups something like this would have been picked up sooner.

Get well soon Helen, and stay crazy!

Thanks Chrissy. I do pray she will be alright. I also don't understand with all of our checkups how we can get so bad without anyone finding out sooner.

That is a scary thought. What is the sense of all these other tests?

I wish Helen all the best. Talk about starting the year off with a bang.

Helen is having a Triple bypass on the 1st January. Thinking of her and her family at this time.

As I understand it, blockages in our arteries are "Plumbing problems" and most of the tests we have, including echo-cardiographs, do not show up these issues. I know that in 2011/12 I was having problems with my energy levels that didn't seem to be explained by any other cause. I had regular echos, interrogations but it was only when I had an angiogram for my physical workup for my cancer treatment that they found a 95% blockage in my coronary artery (early 2012). I was seeing the cardiologist, I had been in our major city due to a lot of clots and stuff on one of my device leads, where I had every other test, but still no sign of the blockage. Only the angiogram showed up the clots and a stent fixed the issue.

And we all know that Helen was having pains for 6 weeks and was taking of all things "anti allergy" tablets. A timely warning for all of us to listen to our bodies and go to the docs. She was worried about her illness interfering with Christmas and her family. Typical Helen, putting everyone first, and not considering the impact on herself.

At least she is in good hands and should soon be in recovery mode.
